Migrating an existing website to my website

  • Unknown's avatar

I have an exting website hosted by name cheap but the website it self is a wordpress website and I have a new hosting and domain name with blue host which I did not want to go through the pain of building a new ecommerce website from scratch since its thesame business as my existing ecommerce website. So I figured I could download a backup of my initial website with theme, plugins products and all that with thesame user interface and upload to my new domain then make some changes. I read some of your articles and downloaded a BACKUP of my already existing website using phpmyaccount and I imported it using thesame process but the theme and everything wouldn’t display on the user interface. I need help with this pls. What do I need to do?

    Hi there:

You’ve posted in the free support forums for sites hosted here at WordPress.com. Since your site is not hosted with us, we’re limited to what we can help with and advise. But I can get you pointed in the right direction to get help.

The good news is that because your host (both Namecheap and Bluehost) uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform (which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com), help is available at the community forums here:

    https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/

The folks in the open-source forum are more familiar with these issues and are in the best position to help.

If you still have trouble, reach out to Bluehost support for help: https://www.bluehost.com/contact

I hope this points you in the right direction.
