    Hi,

im thinking of moving a football website i have to WordPress. It was implemented on the Micorsoft .Net platform using an SQL Server database. I have blog posts (with users’ comments), polls, match ratings, user accounts…etc which i need to migrate to WordPress. Are there any API’s i can use from within .Net code to transfer my data (especially the articles with comments). Are there any webserives that can be used?

    Regards,

From the sound of things, I believe you’ll want to look at self-hosted WordPress.

To give you some background, WordPress comes in two flavors:

There’s WordPress.com, which is great for folks who want to build a slick-looking website or blog with minimal fuss.

And there’s the self-hosted version, available at WordPress.org, for those who don’t mind doing a little technical work in exchange for total control and extreme customizability.

Have a look at this guide to learn more about their different strengths, and to decide which is right for you:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

If you decide on WordPress.org, here are the forums you’ll want to check out.
