Migrating domain

  Hi there, I already have a website however it is built using html, CSS and JavsScript. As the team grows this makes less and less sense and I want to migrate our current website. My plan is to build the website in WordPress and then migrate the domain and just remove the existing site. Is this possible and if so how do I do that? Currently, I am using the free WordPress because it asks me to add my domain as a first step to building a page but I would like to upgrade to business WordPress.

  Hi there,

  You can start creating your site with WordPress.com without transferring the domain in the beginning. You can use any paid plans to get the features that you are looking for. Each plan comes up with a domain credit feature where in you can either register a new domain for your site or you can use your existing domain.

  – You can connect your previous domain with WordPress in two ways
  1. Transferring your domain to WordPress.com – Here you will be transferring the domain to WordPress.com i.e from that time all the renewal and dns setting for domain will be taken care by WordPress.com not by the registrar you are having now.

  2. Mapping your domain- If you are unable to transfer your domain or you don’t want to change the registrar then you can just map that domain with your site.
