Migrating followers

Hello I’m trying to migrate my followers from my old site to my new, I’ve had a look at Jetpack but there isn’t a migration option on there for me. As in the button and text aren’t visible at all.

    Is there another option?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello @sightseeingsuzi,

Just to understand your question better, are both your old and new sites hosted here on WordPress.com? If not would be able to share the following with us?

    URL for old site:

Also are you the owner for both the sites (old & new) and for the jetpack account?

I will be able to assist you better and point you in the right direction of support with the above requested information at hand.

Let us know, looking forward to helping you with this.

    Hi

The old one was hosted on WordPress the new one is via Bluehost

So the old site is now sightseeing.wordpress.com

With the new one just being sightseeigsuzi.com

The reason that this is not working is because sightseeigsuzi.com is not actively connected to the Jetpack plugin. A quick way to check that is by putting the site through the debugging tool at https://jetpack.com/support/debug/

Our first step to getting this migration done is to re-establish that Jetpack connection on the site.

  • Hi sightseeingsuzi –

Jetpack is not active on the new site. This is why things aren’t working. Please remove and reinstall the Jetpack plugin on the new site. Let me know once that is done and I will be happy to proceed with the migration for you. Or, you will be able to do it yourself with these instructions: https://jetpack.com/support/subscription-migration-tool/

    Hello staff-zinnia,

Thank you for considering to guide me in the right direction. It is a huge deal when a staff member takes the time to point volunteers in the right direction and at times like this also help us learn something new. It is surely a huge boost to be back in the forum and participate more. I really appreciate your input.

I will keep this in mind going forward.

You have a lovely rest of the day.

    @sightseeingsuzi

I’ve deleted and reinstalled it and it’s still not giving me that as an option

  • Hi there,

I can transfer the followers from your old to your new site. Just confirm that you want to move them from sightseeingsuzi.wordpress.com to sightseeingsuzi.com .

  • Thanks for confirming. We’ve migrated your followers to the new site.

I recommend you also set the WordPress.com site to private to prevent any more people signing up there. You can do this at My Site ->Manage ->Settings.
