migrating followers from wordpress.com to wordpress.org

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

I’m posting on behalf of the uptolisbonkids.com blog because I need to migrate our followers from wordpress.com to wordpress.org.

By now, new name servers have fully propagated and the blog is 90% functional with the new hosting service. The biggest issue would be, precisely, to migrate the followers from WP.com to WP.org.

As far as I know, this is a free service you provide to those who request it.

Thus, I’d appreciate you’d give the instructions on how to proceed.

    Thanks in advance

    best regards

You need to install & configure the JetPack Plugin

I have flagged this for the staff to help

exactly from which blog to which blog do you want the subscribers transferred – this will help the staff make the move the first time

While thinking about this migration, we were wondering if it’s possible to, somehow, also import site statistics such as page views, total visits, etc.

    Thanks for the support

    regards

Sorry, I only refreshed the page after publishing the previous post.

The blog was with WP.com in uptolisbonkids.wordpress.com (as well as our own domain uptolisbonkids.com) and is now selfhosted under our uptolisbonkids.com domain.

Jetpack is installed and configured with the user ricferr1973

    thanks

    Hi there!

I’m happy to help you with this. First, can you make sure that Jetpack is fully set up and active on your new host?

    Hi,
I’m writing to you on behalf of uptolisbonkids.
During this lapse of time, things changed a bit and I’m now updating you.
We moved the domain uptolisbonkids.com to a selfhosted service for a few days, but the number of visitors to the blog dropped drastically, which made us rethink our strategy.
On top of that, site statistics were reset to scratch, as if it were a completely new blog.
By now, the blog is again operating with wp.com and we’d appreciate you could answer us a few questions, before we proceed:
    – can we import to the selfhosting server the site stats with the number of page views and visitors, as well as the followers?
    – can you let us know the full procedure and timings, so that we can prepare in advance a proper communication to our followers and visitors?
Furthermore, the account on the new host is still active and already has Jetpack fully installed and activated (with user ricferr1973). The domain isn’t ready.
Thanks in advance for your help
    best regards

    Hi there!

    – can we import to the selfhosting server the site stats with the number of page views and visitors, as well as the followers?

I can transfer your stats from your WordPress.com site to your Jetpack linked WordPress.org site. This should happen after you site is set up completely.

    – can you let us know the full procedure and timings, so that we can prepare in advance a proper communication to our followers and visitors?

    Here’s a guide for transferring from WordPress.com to WordPress.org:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org

And here’s some information about migrating your subscribers:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/moving-your-subscribers/#wordpress-com-to-self-hosted-site

You’ll want your new site completely set up before I transfer subscribers and stats for you. And I will need these requests to come from the owner of uptolisbonkids.wordpress.com

Let me know if you have any questions about anything there! :)
