Migrating free site hosted on WordPress to Godaddy – possible without plugins?
-
I am trying to migrate my site from WordPress to GoDaddy (via their basic managed hosting). Godaddy’s automatic WordPress site importer directs me to this forum, and I have searched but not yet found a solution. It seems that most answers require the installation of plugins, but the basic tier does not allow plugin use. Is there another method that works?
Thanks for your advice.

Hi there,
If you are curious, this guide will walk you through the process of moving your site to a traditional web host: https://move.wordpress.com/
Please note that WordPress.com is a custom WordPress service, so it is not exactly the same as the version of the platform that GoDaddy offers. Because of this GoDaddy’s migration instructions may not apply to your site (they usually refer to migrating a self-hosted WordPress site, which are sites that you create on a “traditional web host”)
But the instructions I linked above will work to get you moved over. Sorry to see you go, but I wish you the best of luck!
