migrating from blogger to wordpress

Hi! I am struggling and very confused on how to move my blog from blogger to wordpress.
I bought my domain and use my blog through blogger currently.
I am wanting to move it from blogger to wordpress, all the posts and domain included.
GoDaddy told me I needed to purchase a plan for them to host it as I move the site. I was unsure if this was necessary and he pushed it for me to buy. I bought 3 years. They gave me very little help on moving the site over.When I went to google forum to ask on how to move it.
They told me to back it up and it creates an xml file. Except that file can only be used with Blogger.I feel like I just paid GoDaddy for 3 years to host and I have no clue what to do to move it over.
These are the steps he sent once I purchased hosting with them for 3 years.
