Migrating from Hostgator to WordPress.com
-
I have a site (www.arcofthehawk.com) using WordPress themes, which is hosted by Hostgator. I would like to migrate from Hostgator to the free WordPress.com site, but don’t know how to do that.

Hi there,
WordPress.com offers a couple of options for moving from Self-Hosted WordPress to WordPress.com.
Option 1: Use Migration tool to move all your site’s content, plugins, and custom themes to WordPress.com ( for which you need WordPress.com Business plan or higher).
Option 2: Use the Export/Import feature to import just your site’s content, including posts, pages, and media.
You can find the details here:

Thank you both for your help. My primary goal is to save on the hosting cost of my current page which I self-host using HostGator. If I can avoid having to rebuild my entire site, for a significant savings, I would do that. I’m currently paying $107.40/ year at HostGator. The Personal Plan goes for $4.00/ month or $48/year from WordPress.com. Would that level provide migration or would I have to use an Import tool? Since my page already exists within a WordPress.org theme, I would like to avoid reinventing the wheel, but if the cost savings is not significant enough, it may not be worth the trouble. HostGator will discount to $80.55 if I stay with them, but that may only be temporary. Thanks for your insights.
