migrating from KNOL
-
I think a lot of people actually must have given up, when they saw it was not working, unless I’m proven the contrary
I was specifically referring the folks who asked, were directed on how to do it, imported successfully with blogs full of previous Knol content, and said “Thanks.”
We can debate about whether they were lying or not, but that’s not why we’re here.
-
I was not accusing them or you of lying, but realisin that really lots of people must have given up. For sure you can be in contact only with those who contacted you. Now still give me please a link to the ex-knols of an ex-knoler that were successfully moved, I have not seen a thing like that and I would like to before dying…. as for the french language, I am not aware of someone having moved automatically, all the people I know have given up or moved manually
-
Here’s one from my browser history: http://jgknols.wordpress.com/
I’m sorry, but I won’t be providing more that. There’s really no reason to.
We’ll let you know as soon as we have more information about your import.
-
don’t worry I will not tell anybody, just visit it, also to see if there is still a knol feel in them. thanks a lot. Yes contact me but I think I will be working on manual transfert at a fast pace beginning today. Cheers
-
Well, visit finished! This man had only ONE knol (very short indeed)? the post 845 and 847 are empty, and with the Hello World post, the total number of his publications is FOUR ?!?
I reckon you’ve just said you wont be providing more of that, but you have’nt got anything more substantial ?
Also I’m wondering if his knol has been transfered to a post when obviously most knols fit in what is a PAGE rather ? is it that that they have designed as automatic migration, for god sake I’m happy it did not work !
-

No, I just a lot of other users to help at the time. I had some free time this evening, so I tracked down these three from my browser history:
http://proventivesolutions.wordpress.com/
http://studyinginusa.wordpress.com/
http://oralpoetry.wordpress.com/
You can probably find others by searching for Knol and WordPress.com.
-
thanks a lot,
yes I see that apparently, they all have been moved to posts,
I’m not interested, I’m not a blogger, I write articles, really I thought Annotum WAS about papers, not posts, what the F…. ?
btw, James, can I turn on the comments on Annotum ? it was an interesting feature of Knol (among many, before those stupid m….. of Google dumped us)
enjoy the rest of your week end
regards

in proventive solutions, they have a very interesting droping menus, how are they made ?
-
Comments can be enabled for disabled following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/
Custom menus can be created following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
-
-
No, normal hours, though only one hour a day on the weekends and random hours at night when I’m bored with “normal” stuff. :)
-
OK, this morning I have moved my most popular knol so I think my number of visits will explode in the coming days. Do you know if it is possible to put a “word cloud” in a WP page, this kind of stuff : http://csmt.uchicago.edu/glossary2004/icon.htm
or the sphere kind I have seen elsewhere…
-
Not really the sphere kind, but assuming that you’re tagging the posts, you could use a Tag Cloud widget: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/tag-cloud-widget/
-
I don’t post, I only do pages. But If I make one post with this cloud, it will stay on my home page maybe…. interesting, thanks
-
Hi James, I enabled the comments but I still don’t see them appear, is it possible that comments are disabled in Annotum ?
-
-
Hi, err, I would like comments to be enables on ALL my pages, I see a comment form when I create of modify the page, but never on the published pages ???
If you can do a test on a page, please begin by this one: http://kn0l.wordpress.com/parente-du-francais-et-de-langlais-et-autres-sources-de-leurs-etonnantes-ressemblances-une-approche-linguistique/
also I created a menu, Ok, it’s there, then a second menu, but this one will not appear…
-
Hm, yes, comments are not available on Annotum pages, only posts. Sorry about that!
As for the menu, what you have done is created two menus, each with only one item.
Make sure that you follow this guide to create one menu with multiple items: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
-
OkKKKK, I’m sure they will repair this mistake one day ?
yes I have created two menus, I’m aware I could add more items in each of them, it’s what I want, each menu leading to only one page
but the problem is that the second menu doesn’t appear, only the first ? do you see the second menu ?
-
It actually appears to be intentional, but I’ll pass it along.
As for the menus, I think you’re misunderstanding it a bit. Take what you have added to the second menu, and instead drag that into the first menu. You should see what I mean.
Or, review the video tutorial at http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
