Migrating from self hosted to .com business account
-
I understand the process of exporting my .org file into the .com account. I want to be sure the new site is the same as the old one before pointing my domain to the .com site. I’ve seen the suggestion that I start with the basic account and upgrade. I will need the business account for some of the things I want to do. Should I start with the lower level account to get the generic URL and use that to build the new site, then upgrade to business or just start with business and change the DNS once I’m ready. I will leave my domain at its current registrar. Thanks!

Hi there,
Should I start with the lower level account to get the generic URL and use that to build the new site, then upgrade to business or just start with business and change the DNS once I’m ready. I will leave my domain at its current registrar.
That would work perfectly. In fact, you can buy the business plan right off and just use the temporary URL we’ll send you. That way you can add the plugins and theme(s) you need, migrate your content, and apply any finishing touches before pointing the domain here.
Let us know if you need more help! And once you have the plan, you’ll have access ot chat here:
Cheers!
