Migrating from Wix to WordPress

Hi there. I’m currently in the process of migrating my site from Wix onto WordPress. I plan to use the Small Business package for WordPress but I’m currently using the free version until I figure out how to effectively migrate my site.

I currently own the domain ‘superpower5k.com’ through a third party provider and would like to keep it that way. My questions are, 1) if I select the ‘Connect your domain’ option, do I have to start paying for the Small Business Plan right away? And 2) The page is currently active on Wix. If I connect my domain and launch the site on WordPress, what will happen to the page on Wix?

I’m very new to website development so hopefully these questions make sense haha.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

  • Hey there, makes perfect sense to me: you want to set up a new site before letting go of the old one. It’s a common thing :)

Your timing for adding the plan will just depend on when you need to start working with that plan’s features.

But your domain will stay with Wix until you’re ready to point it here. Does that help? If not, send more details and we’ll go from there. Also, note your plan will come with free direct support, so that may be a good option for you to get started with, too.
