Migrating from wordpress.com to wordpress.org
-
Hi! I registered my domain at WordPress a few hours ago. But i found out i still can’t install the plug-ins. What’s the best thing to do? Transfer to a wordpress.org site? How will i be able to do that while maintaining my domain name? I still have 40 hours before i can fully refund the purchase of the domain. :)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You do not need to cancel the domain and I don’t advise doing that. You can hire a web host, set up a free WordPress.ORG install, upload a theme and plugins into it. Then you can export your content out of the WordPress.COM blog and import it into the WordPress ORG install. The links must be exported/imported in a separate file. Once that is done then you can log-in here and mange your domain by updating the nameservers. The nameservers control where traffic for the domain goes using DNS. If you are moving from WordPress.com to a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, you can enter the nameservers provided by your web hosting company to switch your domain to their hosting service.
