Migrating hosting through GoDaddy
-
Hello,
I’m trying to migrate hosting through GoDaddy, and have already purchased the new hosting plan. How can I migrate my existing wordpress website? Thanks for your help! -
Hi there!
Can you let us know what the URL is of the site where you’re having this problem? Once we have that information, we’ll be better able to advise.
Note we can only help with sites that are or will be hosted here at WordPress.com. If you’re migrating to a different host, you should reach out to that host’s support for help.
Thank you!

Hey, thanks for the quick response!
The website is http://www.thelazywomen.com. The website will remain on WordPress, I’m trying to migrate it from WordPress to WordPress. Let me know if you need any additional info!
Thanks!

Hi there,
To clarify, are you trying to migrate the site from Go Daddy to WordPress.com or are you trying to migrate the site elsewhere? I do not see a paid plan under your account, so it sounds like you are not moving it to WordPress.com.

Hi,
I have the domain through GoDaddy, and I am planning to get a hosting package at GoDaddy. The hosting package is specifically for WordPress, I am supposed to be able to migrate my website. This is what I’m struggling with, and was told by GoDaddy to get in touch with WordPress.
I think currently my account is on wordpress.org, not on wordpress.com.
Thanks!

Hmm…that’s where the confusion lies. http://www.thelazywomen.com is already hosted with Go Daddy. I am not sure why they would have you contact us since your site isn’t hosted with us. Did they say why they wanted you to get in touch with us?
I agree that it sounds like they are referring to WordPress.org, but WordPRess.org isn’t a singular organization, so there is no one to contact. WordPress.org is software that you use on self-hosted sites such as Go Daddy. If Go Daddy is the current host and the site is already hosted with them, I don’t see the need to migrate the site unless there is content located on a different host that you are wanting to migrate to?
If you can provide a bit more clarification on what Go Daddy mentioned to you, hopefully, we can get this sorted out for you.
Thanks!
