Migrating just website to WP

    I would appreciate insight into this. We currently have a VPS host serving out website (running self installed WordPress) and email. We would like to move our wordpress site to the actual wordpress.com service on a Business account, but leave our domain and DNS hosted on our VPS server for it to continue serving email. Has anyone else done this, and will it work ok? Any tips for doing this without a huge blunder?

    The first step here would be to use the migration tool as described here: https://wordpress.com/support/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/#option-1-migrate-from-self-hosted

    This is first step is not domain dependant.

    Once the site has been migrated, you can look at pointing the domain over to WordPress.com.

    Ideally, you would change the name servers of the domain to: 

    
ns1.wordpress.com
ns2.wordpress.com
ns3.wordpress.com

    And then add any other DNS settings here at WordPress to keep things running (like email for email for example).

    Failing that, you can map the domain via A Records instead, and these A records can be requested here: https://wordpress.com/help/contact
