Migrating my Existing Site
-
Hi, my name is Chris Ritchie. My current website is on GoDaddy. I have heard a lot of bloggers use WordPress. I do not want to re-do all of my site information for my existing site. I cannot figure out how to migrate it. Can you please help me so I can sign up with WordPress and shut down my GoDaddy?
Thanks!
Chris

There are a number of ways you can accomplish this process I will link them below. Please be sure to take note of the prerequisites such as deactivating plugins or removing jetpack, depending on which method you plan to use. Talking from experience, I ignored once and lived to regret.
Coming from a self hosted site, I’m assuming you will need a paid plan in order to not lose the ability to use your custom domain or keep the plugins you may be using if any. You can browse the plans here so as to determine the one suitable for you before you start migrating. Check out the plans and pricing here.

You can try a different import using move to WordPress.com
The Move to WordPress.com plugin allows you to start migrating a self-hosted WordPress site to WordPress.com directly from the self-hosted site. All incompatible plugins deactivated on the self-hosted site. ✅ There is no need to create a site on WordPress.com before you get star3. There is also this way to migrate
If you wish to import an entire WordPress site including plugins, themes, and users, the Migrate Guru plugin can help you achieve that. Prerequisites This migration option is suitable for self-hosted WordPress sites if you have already tried the Import Everything and Move to WordPress.com plugin options and did not get the desired result. You can also use the plugin method to import a locaI hope this helps you get started.
