Migrating one wordpress site to another
-
I currently own a website, built on wordpress, but not hosted there. In an effort to overhaul our site without losing content, I built a secondary website also on wordpress. I am now trying to take the domain of Website A and use it for Website B. GoDaddy’s support has told me I need to contact WordPress’ support team to change the domains. Can anyone give me guidance? I would like to do this so that Website B uses the same url as Website A.

To move the site here, please follow this guide: https://wordpress.com/support/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/
As for the domain, we have two options for using a domain you already own with a site at WordPress.com:
Mapping allows you to keep the domain registered with your current domain registrar and direct it to your WordPress.com site: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/
A transfer would allow to manage both your site and domain from the same place: https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/

Thank you for your answer, I really appreciate you helping me to figure out which steps to take. I think mapping is what I am trying to do.
My current website, (let’s call it WebsiteA) goes to WebsiteA.com. I want the pages on WebsiteB to go to WebsiteA.com. I followed the steps in the guide you provided for mapping the domain and as instructed, I attempted to add the domain in step 5. However, this domain is already mapped to WebsiteA. I am not sure based on the instructions how to proceed.

I think maybe I need the IP addresses based on the feedback both frm GoDaddy’s support team as well as the instructions here under “Change Your Domain’s Name Servers” (https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/)
How would I go about getting the IP address? Thank you for your time!

The existing domain is nwworks.com. The new site I’ve built out is etahmaseb.wordpress.com.

Mapping a domain using nameservers is really the better way to go unless there is a specific reason that you need to use IP addresses.
Is there a reason you could not update your domain’s nameservers to point to WordPress.com as detailed here:

Hi,
I’m just going to schedule a one on one session over zoom. I’m very much a layman with all of this so I think it will be easier to have someone to work with face to face in real time. Thank you for your help!

Understood, ellietahmaseb.
For what it’s worth, I do think it sounds like you just need to map your domain. You’ll need a plan for that, and once you buy the plan you’ll get chat-based support. If that doesn’t work well for you, you could do it by zoom. Hoping this helps!
And here’s the guide for mapping if you want to try it on your own:
