Migrating Personal Site to Business Site
-
Is it possible to do some Web design work using my free personal WordPress account, then migrating the entire site over to an existing business domain when I upgrade to a business account with WordPress?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

migrating the entire site over to an existing business domain
Where would this domain be hosted?

I currently work for a Land Surveyor who wants to upgrade the company website. I’d like to see if I like WordPress, so I’ve joined as a personal member. I’d like to work a bit with the site, and if it is acceptable then I would like to take what I’ve done, purchase a business account with WordPress and move all of my work over.
In answer to your question, it would be hosted by WordPress and we would cancel our current account with a different provider.

https://en.support.wordpress.com/email-forwarding/What domain mapping does is providing a seamless redirect to the very same content under the new domain URL when a person clicks the old URL .wordpress.com to the original content. It can take up to 72 hours for domain propagation to take place throughout the internet but it doesn’t usually take that long. https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

Actually, further to above — can WordPress host other domains? We have a current domain name which we want to keep. I would like to use the WordPress programs to set up the site, upgrade to the WordPress business account and then migrate all of the work I do over to our current domain address once everything is ready to publish.
Is this possible?

Hi @zoomb767, we certainly can host existing domains. Here’s how:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/It sounds like you should go ahead and start a new site here:
https://wordpress.com/start/Then you can work on moving the content over. We can let you know what your options are if you’ll send a link to your site. Then you can get a plan, do any additional site configurations you like, and point the domain to our servers.
Once you have a plan, you’ll have chat-based support, too, so if you need help, just let us know. Cheers :)
