Migrating posts where some content already copied
-
Hi,
I want to migrate several posts (in a unique category) from my first website to a new one.
I’ve already copy-pasted 4 posts (re-uploading images etc) because I was in a rush to add some content to the new site and at the time I hadn’t looked into how to export/migrate the posts. I updated those 4 posts, so they are no longer exactly the same as the originals, plus I didn’t copy/move the comments over.
I’ve now read up on how to do the exporting but I think I’ve made life difficult for myself with these 4 copy-pasted posts when it comes to both re-directing and moving the existing comments (which I haven’t copied over)!
What’s the best/easiest solution?
It would help to know more about redirection, i.e. can I choose for each individual post WHERE it gets redirected to? Or do the plugins automatically redirect to the exported file and you can’t override that?
Thanks for any advice!

Hi Sara, tricky situation! Do any of the copy-pasted posts have comments on the new site yet? If not, I’d recommend:
– Changing the permalinks links on the copied posts
– Importing the old site
– Copying the updated content to the old posts that include comments
It would help to know more about redirection, i.e. can I choose for each individual post WHERE it gets redirected to? Or do the plugins automatically redirect to the exported file and you can’t override that?
Can you send a few links you would be redirecting from and to?
