Migrating site over to WordPress
-
Hi, I have an art website with 100’s of pages. It was created with Dreamweaver. I would like to move the site over to WordPress but maintain the design as much as possible. And then do the new editing with WordPress. Most of the files are shtml.

Hey there! We don’t have any built-in options for importing from html/shtml, since the layout likely won’t come through correctly. Your best bet may be copying and pasting one page at a time and adjusting the pages as you go, or, you could find out of Dreamweaver’s community has any tools for generating a “wxr” or WordPress export file, or any of the other compatible exports mentioned here:
https://wordpress.com/support/import/#non-word-press-siteYou might also try asking over at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ . I found this plugin, for example: https://wordpress.org/plugins/import-html-pages/ — though again I’m not sure whether the design would come through. If the layout is similar in many of the pages, it may be worth it to hire someone to import it for you. We currently recommend Codable for projects.
