Migrating Subscribers
-
I lost my subscribers when I moved to wordpress.org. At one point I saw how to move them using Jetpack, but that option no longer seems to be available. How do I move them?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there!
I can help you with this migration. Can you confirm that you want the subscribers from appalachiantrailgirl.wordpress.com to appalachiantrailgirl.com?
I see that you have several sites, and I wanted to make sure!
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

Hi there, I moved those subscribers over from your WordPress.com site, but I only saw one follower on appalachiantrailgirl.wordpress.com. Is this what you were expecting, or could I help in another way?
Let me know! Thanks :)
-
I did have a few hundred followers. What happened was I migrated them with Jetpack, and they were there. Then someone was helping me with my site and they deactivated Jetpack, and I lost my followers. I’m hoping they are still out there somewhere with Jetpack.

Hey there!
Thanks for that explanation! I’ve done a little work on our side, and now I need you to disconnect and then reconnect your Jetpack site.
Once you’re done with that, your subscribers should reappear.
Give that a go, and let me know how it works out! Thanks :)

Hi!
I deactivated everything on Jetpack then reactivated it. Was that the correct way to do it, or is there something else I need to do?
Thanks for all the help!

Hey there!
Please let me know if your stats are back to normal! If not, I’ll disconnect you on our end, and you can reconnect!
Thanks much!

Hi Robyn,
Yes, could you please disconnect on my end. I still don’t have my subscribers. Thanks so much!

Hi!
It looks like Jetpack is now setup correctly on appalachiantrailgirl.com. I ran it through our Jetpack debugger (that picks up any errors), and it looks good to go:
http://jetpack.me/support/debug/?url=appalachiantrailgirl.com
Your subscribers on your self-hosted site can be found here:
https://wordpress.com/my-stats/?blog=86053113&blog_subscribers&unit=1
Just to clarify, you’re expecting this number to be in the hundreds. Is that correct? One clarification point, on WordPress.com, when you connect a social network through Publicize, those followers are included in your total follower count. So, your Twitter followers were added to the total (400 or so). On self-hosted sites, that is no longer the case so you will not see that number added in. Could that be accounting for the disparity?

Hi Robyn,
As far as the followers go, I was aware that the social media followers appear on wordpress.com. I used to have about 700 followers before moving. But after I set up Jetpack and migrated my followers, I still had 300-400. It was when the Jetpack was uninstalled is when I lost them all.
So yes, I did have a few hundred actual WordPress and email subscribers, not just social media followers.

Hey there!
I’ve disconnected your Jetpack site from your WordPress.com account. Can you please reconnect, and let me know if your stats change?
Many thanks! :)
-
Hello,
I’m already connected on my wordpress.org site. On wordpress.com I don’t seem to have the ability to connect to Jetpack.
-
Hey there!
I had disconnected your .org site. Did you reconnect? If so, can you take a look at your stats and let me know if you see any change?
If not, we’ll run through the whole process again, which will include another disconnection of your self-hosted Jetpack site from WordPress.com.
I’ll keep an eye out for your answer! Thank you so much.

Hey there!
We resolved the issue with your Jetpack site, and I’ve re-migrated your subscribers from the first Jetpack connection, to your new Jetpack connection.
To finish the process, I need you to log into your WordPress.org site. Navigate to Dashboard > Jetpack. Then, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the “Disconnect from WordPress.com” link. After doing so, click the “Connect to Get Started” button to reconnect.
It can take several hours for the subscriber list and totals for your site to be updated, especially if you have many subscribers, FYI!
Please be in touch once that’s done. Let me know how things worked for you :) Thanks!

Hello,
I disconnected then reconnected Jetpack several days ago and I still don’t see my subscribers. -
Hi there!
We can see all your migrated subscribers on your self-hosted site. Could you please confirm that you’re logging into your Dashboard (at http://appalachiantrailgirl.com/wp-login.php) to see your stats, rather than looking at WordPress.com?
Once you’ve logged into your self-hosted site (on that server, not here at WordPress.com):
1. Go to your Dashboard.
2. Click on Jetpack > Site Stats.
3. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page.
4. On the left, you’ll see a section labeled Subscriptions.
5. Click on the link labeled ‘Blog’ to see a list of email address for all the people who have subscribed.
Take a look and let me know if you’re see those subscribers now. Thanks a ton!

FABULOUS! I think we just did the technical version of the Appalachian Trail :)
So glad you’re up and running. Best of luck with your site!
