migrating to self-hosting

Hi, in six days my domain, aaronguile.com, expires. I want to take advantage of ComicPress & WordPress.org by self hosting through Blue Host. I spoke to a friend at BlueHost and he mentioned to me to contact to you to be sure my domain is not locked up making to move difficult to impossible.
    What are my next steps?

    Hi there,

Your friend gave you great advice! I looked into your domain and it is not locked. You can transfer the domain at any time. Please note, that this is only necessary if you want to transfer your registration to Bluehost. It is possible to keep your domain registered through us and host with Bluehost, but it’s also nice to have everything all in one place. You can read about the difference between hosting and registration here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/all-about-domains/

So, if you want to transfer your domain registration, you will have to cancel Private Registration, unlock the domain and obtain an EPP Authorization code. The guide below explains how to transfer the domain name to another registrar, including how to access the authorization (EPP) code:

Transfer a Domain to Another Registrar

In addition, this guide will step you through the process of moving your site to a WordPress.org instance:

As we only support sites hosted here at WordPress.com, all issues with the new site – including the importing of the file – must be taken to the WordPress.org support community:

If you’d like assistance moving your WordPress.com site to WordPress.org, we have a service called Guided Transfer that does all the work for you. Check it out to see if it’s right for you:
