Migrating Users – Tool not working

I’m trying to migrate subscribers from our old WordPress.com (theseconddisc.wordpress.com) site to the new, self-hosted (theseconddisc.com) site. I’m following the instructions, but when I get to migrate followers. page, the select field is empty.

I flagged this for the staff to help.

I can help you with this, but it looks like you’ve connected the temporary url of your self-hosted site to WordPress.com via Jetpack, rather than the permanent URL of the new site (theseconddisc.com) and transferring your subscribers to the temporary URL could cause problems. could you disconnect and reconnect to Jetpack so you’ll get a clean connection?

After that I’ll be happy to help you transfer your subscribers.

Okay, the new site should now be connected to the permanent URL…

Confirmed. The site has been disconnected and reconnected using the permanent URL. Though it appears we lost the day’s stats…

That dropdown under migrate is still empty, but I’m hoping you can migrate the subscribers from the backend.

I was able to move your subscribers from here. Please let me know if you need anything else!

Thanks. Is there anywhere to review or confirm the list? The widget on the site still says “Show total number of subscribers? (0 subscribers)”

I’m seeing the subscribers moved on this end. If you visit the stats page for http://theseconddisc.com/, you should see them in the subscribers in the followers section.

The widget on the site still says “Show total number of subscribers? (0 subscribers)”

You might need to do a hard refresh or clear your cache for that number to update.

We’re seeing 1,110 Subscribers reported by the widget now.

However, the old site had 3,030 subscribers. Now the old site reports 2,021. So it looks only some of them were transferred…

However, the old site had 3,030 subscribers

The follower count in that widget includes Facebook and Twitter followers connected via publicize. One you hook your social media profiles back up through Publicize your subscriber count will go back to where it was.
