Migrating WordPress database

Hi WordPress Community!
I have a couple migration-related questions, I hope the fellow community can assist. Here’s the situation:
– a wordpress installation got hacked and infected with bad files
– we want to start from scratch, from a fresh installation
– we have the new, most up-to-date wordpress version installed
– now we want to see if its possible to migrate and grab the old data from the old, infected site and plug it back into the new one1) I’ve done some searching but all the blogs only provide steps on putting all the files back onto the new server. We don’t want to do that obviously because some of the old files are infected, and worse of all, we don’t know which ones. So we don’t want bad files on the new site.
What is the best way to proceed if we want to retain all the old data?
2) Is it possible to just migrate the database fields? What about the pictures, images, and videos?
3) Are there WordPress plugin(s) available where I can import all the content from the old site into the new site via admin panel?
My apologies for the lengthy post – we’re new to WordPress (we came from other CMS software). Many thanks in advance for your time.

This is the WordPress.COM support forum. You need to post to the WordPress.ORG support forum for help with your site because it is not hosted by WordPress.COM.WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and have different logins, features and run different versions of some themes with the same names http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.
