Migrating wordpress site

Hi, I am a member of not-for-profit animal welfare organisation. I manage the website content and because our website administrator has just left I am also trying to manage the website itself but my technical knowledge is limited. Currently we have a wordpress.com blog site (https://coalitionprotectgreyhounds.wordpress.com/) which was started a few years ago. We also have a wordpress website which sits on the private server of the previous website administrator: (http://greyhoundcoalition.com). We need to migrate off the private server. We are not paying anything for the blog or website setup. Could you give me your advice on the most cost effective migration and hosting options for our website and possibly the blog site if we combine the two. We do use plug ins and want to continue using the greyhoundcoalition.com domain name if possible. Thanks for your help.

  • Hi there,

If you’d like to move your site to WordPress.com and maintain the plugins aand your current theme, you’d need plan Business. We have a great guide that would help you with the migration:

There is no way of really merge two sites but you can export all the content from your free blog and import it to the new site, to integrate it there.
Another option would be to add a link to the free blog to the menu on your main site.

If you have more questions, let us know :).
