Migrating wordpress.com blog to GoDaddy?
-
Hi,
I’ve been running a blog for just over a year now, but am far from a tech expert so forgive me if some of what I’m asking is basic :)
I usually get nearly 2000 hits per day, and am looking to monetize my blog in some way (I got more than 10k hits in a day recently, and while I was delighted with this, was frustrated that it didnt make me a cent haha), and I think that moving my content from wordpress to a .com address I pay a small fee to GoDaddy for.
How do I go about doing this as simply as possible, keeping the layout, all the content, comments etc. from the original?
And an important question also is: will all the old links to pages on my wordpress blog redirect to my replacement site?
Alternatively, are WordAds any good?
Any help that anybody could give me in getting my head around this would be much appreciated
Thanks,
Jeremy
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Don’t know about WordAds – some say OK others say not so good – you would need to ask the WordAds people about that – WordAds need a custom domain name before you can apply.
WordAds are certainly the easiest way to go – you are still hosted here
The staff will move your blog for you to a WordPress.ORG install with the Guided Transfer ( $ 99.- ) – it is the easiest way if you do not have web experience, but many people move their own sites and don’t have much tech experience. But you need to upgrade the software and if the site breaks, you fix it yourself
There are also Managed Hosting, sort of like here – a company looks after your blog for you but you can put ads on it – WP Engine is one such host – does cost a bit but they do the upgrades and such for you.
The old links will work if the transfer and setup is done correctly
