  We have some information about moving from a self hosted site to WordPress.com, here:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/

  Content can be imported to WordPress.com while the existing site remains in place. You can also start choosing and customising a theme here whenever you are ready.
