  Hello, I need to transfer my wordpress.com site to my dream host account. I have the migration key ready from dreamhost, however, wordpress.com is not allowing me to install that plugin because i don’t have a business plan. I don’t want to pay for a business plan for a few hours just to transfer.Please help me

  Hi there,

  Full-site migrations are only possible on our Business Plan using a plugin. Sites not on the Business Plan uses a modified version of WordPress that cannot be downloaded and migrated to another provider’s servers.

  On a free site like yours, you can only migrate the content, i.e. posts, pages and media files, but not the theme or site settings.

  Go to Tools ->Export to download an export file for you site:

  https://wordpress.com/support/export/

  Then install the open source version of WordPress on your server at Dreamhost, log into WP-Admin, and go to Tools ->Import to import that file.
