  We had a site that was a sub-site of a multi-site WordPress.org network and used a web address of https://CommissaryConnection.DoDLive.mil. That site is no longer live, but still preserved. Would your migration tool be able to migrate this site to a standalone WordPress.com site? If so, what requirements would there be for accomplishing this? Thanks for any information you can provide.

  The site would need to be publicly accessible to import: https://wordpress.com/support/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/

  Would you be able to make it live again just for a bit?

  That may be possible; I’m not sure, but I could ask! So would that be Option #1 with your Migration Tool? If the site was live, that tool could handle the migration from a sub-site of a multi-site WordPress network to a standalone site?

  I just wanted to be sure, because I couldn’t find that mentioned in the support documentation. And that would include carrying over our plugins and premium theme (Sahifa) if we were on the business plan or higher? (I don’t think we have any of the incompatible themes listed, except maybe Broken Link Checker.)

  Also, I assume we would be able to park it there and make updates/adjustments to it before going “live” with it? Do we need to select our domain before we migrate it, or could we migrate it and then choose our domain before we go live?

  Sorry for all of the questions, but I appreciate your help! I’m trying to get a full understanding of what our options are and anticipate any hurdles.

  In order to carry over both your plugins and themes, as well as all of your content, you’ll definitely need to do option 1: https://wordpress.com/support/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/#option-1-migrate-from-self-hosted

  And, you certainly can get your site set up here before switching your domain over.
