Migration Mess

I have been using a WP website hosted by HostGator. While I was there, I was encouraged to open an account with WordPress. I think that is the root of my problems now. I’ve decided o move my hosting here and followed the checklists here, including creating a new account.
I have purchased a site from/for WordPress. I’m trying to export my previous website (also built using WordPress, hosted by HostGator). When I go to my admin page to finish the import, first it tells me I have no websites. When I try to create a new site or import the old one it tells me my site is already mapped and offers to recover it(?!) I expect I will need to delete all of my wordpress accounts and start out fresh.
I appreciate that this forum is staffed by volunteers, and I doubt you want to get into that.
I paid extra for live chat but it isn’t offered on any screen I go to. Any suggestions?

    WP.com: Yes

‘Site title is linked to another wordpress.com account…’ I have done the account recovery procedure. No change.
I paid for live chat. I need Live chat I probably need to delete all of my accounts to get the ball rolling. Please advise.

  • Hi there!

Let’s wait a bit with deleting accounts until we find out what exactly is going on :)

You’re reaching out as warry1954. This account has no WordPress.com sites created under it or connected to it. You mentioned you have paid for Live Chat. That tells me you must have another account with a paid subscription. What is the address of the site you created on WordPress.com? Or, what’s the domain you connected to it?

You can also check your inbox for the receipt we sent after you purchased your plan. That would be the email address you’d need to use to log in to the correct account. From there, you’d be able to reach out via live chat from https://wordpress.com/help/contact.
