Migration Problems

Yesterday I migrated bridgetownforge.com from being a wordpress.org site over to wordpress.com and then changed the bridgetownforge.com DNS to point over to ns1.wordpress.com, ns2.wordpress.com, and ns3.wordpress.com. The wordpress.org site was using an old theme, so after the migration I chose a current theme on bridgetownforge.wordpress.com and turned on the mobile setting. I mapped bridgetownforge.com to bridgetownforge.wordpress.com and made bridgetownforge.com the primary domain. Things seemed to be working fine last night, but this morning I have a mess:

    1) When I go to bridgetownforge.com on my PC, the old theme is displayed (it has a brown background). I’ve cleared my cache, history, images, and cookies multiple times but still get the same result.

    2) When I go to bridgetownforge.com on my Android phone using Chrome, the new theme appears in mobile format, but all graphics except the header are missing.

    3) When I’m logged into wordpress.com, under My Sites I have both bridgetownforge.com and bridgetownforge.wordpress.com listed. Before I started the migration, bridgetownforge.com was where I managed the wordpress.org site. Now the two seem to be mashed together. If I start administering the site bridgetownforge.wordpress.com, depending on what I’m doing, I sometimes end up in the bridgetownforge.com settings. (Remember, bridgetownforge.com is now mapped as the primary domain for bridgetownforge.wordpress.com).

I don’t know where to start to remedy these three problems.

    Followup:

Item #1 resolved itself after 24 hrs. All I can figure is that there was DNS weirdness that had to work through all the servers.

Item #2 started happening on all devices, so I went back and edited every page. I had to edit each graphic and choose “update”. Not sure why. The graphic files were in the right place with the same names, but they had to be manually updated before they would appear on the page. At any rate, it’s now resolved.

Item #3 still has some issues but now that the site is fully migrated and working, I’m going to disconnect the old bridgetownforge.com from WordPress administration and be done with it. Hopefully everything keeps working.
