I’ve spent the majority of my day working with GoDaddy rep and following instructions like a boss. I’m currently stuck because the tool to migrate my site needs ftp information that I do not know how yo get. I have spent hours researching. It looks like the only people talking about ftp is wordpress.org, and they just tell you they don’t have it. Either the GoDaddy rep is dumber than I am, or I’m asking the wrong questions. I love it how all these people are talking about how easy it is to move. But in real life, not so much. All I ever wanted was a cool website. FML

The migration process requires I know the ftp information. Please help.
Host location or IP Address
FTP username
FTP passwordThere is no FTP access to wordpress.COM sites. This is the wordpress.COM support forum where we provide support only for sites that are hosted here. You are posting to the wrong support forum for help with that.
More to the point is the fact that you did not purchase a domain through wordpress.COM so this support doc does not apply https://en.support.wordpress.com/change-name-servers/point-a-wordpress-com-domain-to-godaddy/
You need to export your content out of http://lynxmicrotech.wordpress.com/ by using this guide https://en.support.wordpress.com/export/
Then you need to import the XML export file into your new site by using this guide https://www.google.com/url?q=https://codex.wordpress.org/Importing_Content&sa=U&ved=0ahUKEwj8wtGSpuvJAhUmXqYKHVq3CpgQFggEMAA&client=internal-uds-cse&usg=AFQjCNGjrdUEPHhhuwi950KmUwsaRUgiCA

Code Poet is a directory of WordPress professionals, web designers, and developers brought to you by Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com and the largest operator of WordPress sites. Here’s the link http://directory.codepoet.com/ if you want to hire someone to set up and work on a WordPress.ORG software install.Know that at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ you find peer support forums and free wordpress.ORG software only. There is no wordpress.COM staff support, so you had better know how to manage your own site because a single bad plugin can bring it down and you are on the front line when it comes to fixing any issues on your own site.

We provide support only for sites hosted by wordpress.COM and no others. We cannot help you here beyond what I posted above regarding the export and import of content which does not include the theme or any content in text widgets https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/migration-to-godaddy-wordpress-managed-service?replies=4#post-2518098
To export links see here https://en.support.wordpress.com/blogroll/import-export-links/
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account yet, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

Ok Timethief, All I want you to know is when I started creating this site and I needed help I was already subscribed to this forum automatically. You keep telling me .com and .org are completely different and that I should be asking for help at wordpress.org, but I have never done a single thing there, so how on earth is that where I should be posting. I am working on my site that is hosted apparently by wordpress.com. You keep providing me with links and I read them and some have nothing to do with my situation, I’m getting conflicting information, Information overload, what is important what to ignore. I’ve been googling and reading and reading and nothing is making any sense. I hate everything.

Without doubt, you need to do what I said.
1. Create an XML export file of your content here http://lynxmicrotech.wordpress.com/ by using this guide https://en.support.wordpress.com/export/
2. To export links see here https://en.support.wordpress.com/blogroll/import-export-links/
3. Click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.
Learn how to use WordPress.org support docs at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page. And then import the XML export file of content, which does not include the theme or any content in text widgets, into your new site, as well as importing your links export file into it. -

Here’s the full sequence: https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-to-a-self-hosted-wordpress-site/
I don’t know why Godaddy is complicating things; essentially, you need to set up an account with WordPress.org through GoDaddy, install the theme of choice, and import the database you exported from WP.com.
After that, install and activate Jetpack. Eventually, you can request that your stats are transferred from here to your self-hosted account.
-
I think I know what they’re doing—they think you’re trying to migrate a self-hosted site into Godaddy. That’s a much more complicated process.
Follow the directions on those links, but I’ll give you a simplified version of the transfer.
1. Follow the steps in the links provided earlier in the thread, but make sure that you have a WP.org site set up through Godaddy (this should have been one of the first steps you took when you set up the account). The WP.org dashboard looks like the old WP.com site before they mangled it. A managed WordPress account already has WordPress installed, so you should just need to set up an account to get things rolling.
Once you get that setup, log in and choose a theme: you can install the same them you’re using now.
2. Export your blog from WP.com. (Admin>Tools>Export). This will create the XML file Timethief discussed earlier. The file will be downloaded to your computer.
3. Login to your new site on Godaddy. In the dashboard, go to Tools>Import. Choose the WordPress option. That should import your blog, comments, and links into Godaddy.
4. From the Godaddy/WP.org site, install Jetpack (Plugins). Enter your WP.com user name and password to link your new site to WP.com. Check to make sure everything’s up and working.
5. Request a transfer of stats/likes from WP.com to your new site.

Also, this is useful: https://www.godaddy.com/help/add-sites-8993
Login to your Godaddy account (this will be different than your WordPress login) and go to New Account. From there you should be able to set up your WordPress.org account.
Once you do that, follow the steps in the material provided above.
