  I have received error messages ‘enter a valid email’ when I use my mindspring.com account
  Mindspring was purchased by earthlink.net, but we were grandfathered in. am sure there were other ISP that started up but were purchased by others. Why isn’t mindspring recognized as a valid ISP address.

  I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  I can’t see that mindspring.com is connected with WordPress.com.

  If this was purchased with Earthlink, you would need to reach out via https://www.earthlink.net/ > Support for further assistance.

  Note that there are two versions of WordPress — WordPress.com and WordPress.org. There are some differences between them. If you aren’t sure about those, please check the following page that explains it well: WordPress.com vs WordPress.org.
