Minimum plan to upload html
-
Hi there.
I’m looking for the least expensive plan that will allow me to submit my blog to Google search console. I think the easiest way would be to upload a html file but my free plan doesn’t allow this.
Many thanks. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there @neilmurphy65, you can submit the site to Google Search Console with any of our plans, actually. You just wouldn’t use HTML for it. Here’s a how-to:

Thanks @supernovia. I wasn’t aware that WordPress takes care of all the SEO stuff without needing plugins so that’s good to know. My problem is that I’ve put new content up over a month ago and I can see that Google hasn’t re-indexed my site in nearly 5 weeks so none of my new content is appearing in searches. Bing on the other hand has re-indexed (but who uses Bing, right?). I can check by Googling “site:univirt.wordpress.com” this shows that nothing has been indexed since I published 10 new posts on June 18th. I’m just wondering how I can kickstart Google to notice the new content.

Hi there,
I’m just wondering how I can kickstart Google to notice the new content.
You can start by verifying your site in Google’s Search Console:

Hi,
I do appreciate the advise you guys have given me but I’m getting a bit confused now. One of the first things I read on the page you reference is:
Verifying your site with these services is not necessary in order for your site to be indexed by search engines.
WordPress.com takes care of indexing your site and all of the necessary SEO for you without your having to do anything at all (other than blog)! This is just an extra step you can take if you’d like to gather some additional information on your site traffic that might be of interest to you.
Even if I do choose to verify my site I have some problems.
The recommended option is to upload an HTML file. But when I try to do that, WP tells me I need to upgrade my account to a business plan.
The alternative options all seem to require upgrading my account in order to be able to insert code into the <head> section or install something called a “container snippet”. The only other option is to add text into a DNS record but I don’t have access to WP’s DNS management.
Sorry, I’m not a web developer and I know this is on Google rather than WP but I’m just looking for a simple resolution to this, if there is one.

Hey there, follow the guide that Staff have indicated step-by-step. https://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/#google-search-console
You’ll see that you paste the HTML tag you get from Google Search Console to the Site Verification Services line for Google in your site’s dashboard at https://wordpress.com/marketing/traffic
After you do that and save your changes, you’ll need to go back to the page in Google Search Console and click the Verify button.
Hope that helps.
