Minnow theme customisation

    I’m using minnow theme for my blog http://www.lahummatbayli.com
    I want to have home menu under social media icons instead of sidebar. or is it possible to change sidebar so it will come from the top of the page?
    and Google plus icon doesn’t show on social media icons.

    if there is no solution which theme you could advice me to use instead of this one. I want sophisticated minimalistic theme with one column home menu and social media bar. I also tried theme ryu but the categories are visible under the posts it’s not what i want.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • As mentioned in the Minnow theme support document:

    Minnow is designed to put your social presence front and center by displaying your social links menu prominently below the site title and logo, so readers can easily find you on your favorite social networks.

    So it is not possible to get the menu under the site title.

    To get Google+ icon, could you change the url from the current
    https://www.google.com/+Lahummatbayli
    to
    https://plus.google.com/+Lahummatbayli/
    and see if it displays the Google+ icon.

    I suggest you check these free minimal themes and see if you like anything:

    thanks it worked.
    I checked the other themes but I think I will stick with this one. but can you help to change font in the home menu in the sidebar? and it’s background colour?

    and can i stick the side bar icon so when I scroll down the page it will not disappear?

  • Sure, how would you like your menu font?

    Menu background color can be changed using the following CSS. Add it and let me know if you like any adjustments.

    nav#site-navigation {
        background: lightgray;
        padding: 1.5em;
    }

    To stick the side bar icon, here is the CSS. This sticks the icon only in desktop and laptop screens, but not on mobiles and tablets.

    @media only screen and (min-width: 1200px)  {
    button.menu-toggle {
    	position: fixed;
    	top: 30px;
    }

    button.menu-toggle.toggle-on {
        position: fixed;
        top: 30px;
        right: 310px;
    }
    }

    The sidebar icon is now sticked on the page.
    About background colour I said it wrong I want to change background colour of the whole sidebar.

    The font for the menu I want is BRANDON GROTESQUE light and large.

    I just upload my blog’s logo to the sidebar as an “image” widget. I wanted it to be the first in the sidebar. but I couldnt move the primary menu. Only thing I could do is I put my menu as a widget “custom menu” and then I moved it. Now I need help.
    Can I move the the primary menu and paste widget(only one) first? Or can I apply a photo to the top of the side any other way? Or can I change Font of the “custom menu” widget?

    another option is I put my logo as an sidebar icon(three lines) and I delete the image from the side bar and use my menu as primary menu and change it’s font.

    Sorry for such complications.

  • The font for the menu I want is BRANDON GROTESQUE light and large.

    If you’re referring to the menu widget in your right panel, try something like this:

    .wf-active #nav_menu-7.widget ul li {
         font-family: "brandon-grotesque-1","brandon-grotesque-2","Open Sans Condensed", Helvetica, sans-serif;
      font-size: 17px;
    }

    I don’t think it’s possible to get “light” since you’re only loading the “regular” Brandon Grotesque via the Customizer.

  • About background colour I said it wrong I want to change background colour of the whole sidebar.

    The CSS chaitanyamsv gave you above applies to the whole sidebar panel.

  • I just upload my blog’s logo to the sidebar as an “image” widget. I wanted it to be the first in the sidebar.

    Your logo is currently appearing in the top position in your sidebar.

    Let me know if you’re all set.

    If you need further help with CSS, please start a new thread in the CSS Customization forum rather than continuing to add here – thanks!

    Why when i visit my website first the fonts looks like default and after a second or two it changes and become as I customised them. Is it anyway to fix it? I want the fonts to look like as I customised them from the first moment I visit my page.

    Hi, this can be caused by a slower internet connection and also if the internet has heavy traffic or the servers are very busy. With web-based fonts that are loaded from a different server outside of our system, this can sometimes happen. There really isn’t anything that we can do about it with CSS.
