Minor bbPress annoyance – permalinks page jump

  • Unknown's avatar

One thing which always bothers me about bbPress on the support forums, is the page jump when referencing a permalink to one of the posts here. I think I have to explain that.

The date/time right beside your avatar in every post on this forum is a “permanent link to this post”. When I reference one of the posts in another thread and you click on the link, the page opens and jumps to the comment. Unfortunately right behind the blue header in the forum. In other words the blue header flows over parts of the specific post.

Very irritating as you sometimes don’t know which of the posts was referenced when the one in mind is very short.

Take for example thistimethisspace’s post in my last topic. If you click the link, the first post you’ll see is the one from James. It’s because the other one is too short and vanishes behind the blue header.

I’m using Firefox 19.0 on Ubuntu 12.04 is this is of any help. Cache & Cookies have been reloaded.

    Cheers

Just found out it only happens when you’re logged in. Seems like it has something to do with the admin bar.

  • This should hopefully be fixed when we update bbPress, it’ll give us much more control.

Sounds like the update is soon to happen. Is it?

I can’t remember how often we heard that Automattic is planning to update bbPress (e.g. on modlook – April 2012, November 2011, April 2011). Can’t wait to see it happen.

  • It’s been “soon” for a while. :)

Changes/fixes of the core products keep getting in the way.

I’m fidgeting backwards and forwards on my chair for months now. ;)

Can’t wait to see the new support forums. I hope for a sexy new theme.
