Minor Changes to Twenty-Ten Theme
-
I am trying to make minor changes to the 2010 theme by editing the CSS myself. I’m just starting to learn CSS, so I am a bit of an amateur.
1) I would like to make the cream colored wrapper around the entire site white.
2) I would like to change the font for the post titles and the actual post content.
3) Instead of “Posted December 19, 2010″ by jamieleighmoore,” I would like for it just to have the post date. For example, for it to only say “December 19, 2010.”
4) Remove small black bar at the bottom of page and the “Blog at WordPress.com Logo.”Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

1) The grayish area outside the content area is a background declaration under ” body ” (I’ve changed it to white below)
body { background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #FFFFFF; }2) To change the font titles, add a font-family declaration to #content .entry-title (I just entered Times new roman as a placeholder). Also, keep in mind that the fonts you use need to be something that would be installed on everyone’s computer since that is where the browser will pull from. If it is not on a person’s computer, then the browser will make a substitution on its own. You might look into Typekit fonts, which are fonts that are accessible to browsers from the web. WordPress.com supports Typekit.
#content .entry-title { font-family:"Times New Roman"; }3) The following will get rid of “by authorname”
.meta-sep, .author { display: none; }3) This gets rid of the black line and the footer text
#footer { display: none; } -
Thank you so much! The changes are just what I needed. Truly, your expertise amazes me and I really appreciate your timely response.
I have a few more conundrums that I would like to address whenever anyone has a second. No rush!
1) I would like to remove my main menu bar that has links to both “Home” and “About” and put them in the right hand column menu bar. (where currently the search bar is)
2) I would like to remove both the “Search” Bar and the “Recent Posts” sections and put “Categories” above “Archives.” For the right hand column, I would like the order to be this: 1) Link to “Home”; 2) Link to “About”; 3) Categories; 4) Archives
3) I’m also trying to find a way to make all the links under “Categories” and “Archives” something other than blue and remove the bullets.
Like I said, no rush but any help would be greatly appreciated!

You’re welcome, and thanks.
1) Go to custom menus and create a blank custom menu and assign it to the “primary” menu location. Next, create a custom menu for the sidebar and name it what you wish. Then put the “custom menu” widget into the sidebar and from within that widget select the custom menu you created for the sidebar.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/custom-menu-widget/2) Go to appearance > widgets and put into the sidebar the widgets that you desire and arrange them by drag and drop to your liking.
3) The following should get you what you want. Of course replace the #FF0000 placeholder color code with the hex color code of your choosing.
.widget-area ul ul { list-style: none outside none; } .widget-area a:link, .widget-area a:visited { color: #FF0000; } -

Hi @thesacredpath (or anyone else that can help!), I have 2 questions that I’m really hoping someone can help with!
1)I can’t figure out for the life of me why my custom changes to my Twenty-Ten Theme keep changing! I’ve changed the font color of several places (like name of the blog from black to brown, same with color of blog post titles, color of the hover over the pages menu, etc) in style.css and for some strange reason it keeps defaulting back to the standard color of Black. This has happened to me twice. Now that I’m thinking about it, it could be because I upgraded WP recently, but just thought I’d ask the experts!
2)For some reason, I am unable to get a thumbnail picture to syndicate to my facebook wall using any of the RSS syndication services (RSSGrafiti, 1-Click-Retweet, Tweetcaster, SimpleRSS, etc). I think it has something to do with the theme, but I don’t know for sure. I do have my blog hosted with yahoo…any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

@jgk5020, if you “upgraded” wordpress, then you are in the wrong forums and need to head over to http://wordpress.ORG/support/ which is where self-hosted wordpress blogs are supported.
