Mirror site to subdomain- bilingual site
-
Greetings,
I would be most thankful for a detailed step-by-step instruction to mirror the entire current website to a subdomain.
My goal is to create a bilingual site. At Preston the site is in French only. My idea is to make an exact copy of the site to a new subdomain (mysite/en.com) and translate it manually (no automatic translation needed). Then place a link to each site respectively to publish them either in English or French. Mostly navigation items and page titles, menus, etc).
Ex. mysite.com in French with link to mysite/en.com in English and vice-versa.
I am also wondering whether my plugins will work (license question) on both sites, main one and the one within the subdomain.
Many thanks in advance.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I would like to +1 this question. What you described was also my plan for a bilingual website. I like the idea of having one language sitting under a sub-domain, but wasn’t sure how that works re: cost and how to set it up.

Here are WordPressdotcom’s suggestions on how to set up a multilingual site here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/set-up-a-multilingual-blog/

We cannot install 3rd party plugins here on WordPressdotcom. https://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/If you have any kind of WordPressdotcom Plan, it applies to a single site. If you want to run a subdomain, such as french.mysite.com, then you may only need to buy an additional domain mapping.
Let us know if you have any other questions about that.
