Misleading prices

    I’m looking to upgrade and it says I can select a domain for £11/year (free the first year) but when I select it comes up the another page saying the cheapest is £3/month, ie £36/year. So the first page is misleading!

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: No
    Correct account: Yes

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    If you want to just buy a domain here (to perhaps point to a site at some other host) the cost is £11. If you want to build a site here and buy an annual plan (£36 for the Personal plan) then the cost of the domain is included free for the first year. In year 2 you’d pay £36 to renew the plan and an additional £11 to renew the domain.

  • Hi @gapyearinfranceblog,

    @themagicrobot is correct.

    Your custom domain will still work by directing visitors to your website on WordPress.com as well, even on a Free plan– So if that’s what you would like to do, please remove the Personal plan from the checkout cart, and you’ll be able to purchase the domain without the plan. However, in order to set this domain to your site’s primary domain (the one that is visible in the address bar), a WordPress.com paid plan is also necessary.

    If you would like to make your domain primary, you’ll want to consider upgrading to any WordPress.com plan within the Plans page of your site’s dashboard: https://wordpress.com/plans.

    Best!
