Mismatched fonts colours
-
Hi, i created a simple website for my research (currently still set to private). When I see it in the Reader view, i get some text in blue and some in black (it supposed to be all in blue). The survey colour also magically changed the colour from black to white. What’s up with that inconsistency and how to correct it?
Thanks. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Of what site are you speaking? I don’t see any private sites in the account you’re using to post here.
If you’re speaking of http://karmensphdresearch.wordpress.com/, that site is not set to private, just hidden from search engines:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
The Reader only shows blog posts, and you don’t have any blog posts published on that site, only the single page that’s set as the front page. Where exactly are you seeing this Reader view of your site?
And how exactly are you changing the text color? Looking at your page’s HTML, it appears the color was changed by manually adding
spantags to the HTML itself. That is not the correct method. You can change colors for your entire site at once from the Customizer at My Site ->Design ->Customize ->Colors & Backgrounds:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-colors/
Or you can change it per-paragraph in the editor using the paragraph block settings.
Either way, the WordPress.com Reader won’t show your posts using your custom colors, as the Reader displays the text color the same for all sites on WordPress.com. Any custom colors you apply will only be visible when viewing the post directly on your site itself.
I see a
styletag in the HTML view of the page to change the text color, that is not being inserted by the editor -
Hi,
thank you for your reply. I have no idea what I did, but apparently it is ok now (when I shared link to it with a friend to check). I have another issue. There is a Menu button on my static page which is obsolete. I tried googling how to remove it, but all I got is codes. I’m not a programmer. Is there an easier way to remove a Menu button on the static page? Something that a lay person can do?
Thank you. -
Hi there,
I see only https://karmensphdresearch.wordpress.com/ on your WordPress.com account, and that site has only one page, so it does not display a menu.
Are you asking about another site? Is it possible you created it under a different login or are using another provider like GoDaddy, Bluehost, Hostgator, etc. instead? What is the URL of the site you are needing help with?
Happy to check in our system so we can take a closer look.

Hi,
thanks, but a static WordPress site is the site in question. I see it in editing screen, but a friend sent me a screen shot of what she has seen on mobile, when I shared the link with her (same link as you posted above). The screen shot showed the Menu button. Anyhow, I managed to delete the menu now, so I think it is ok now. Thank you for your prompt response anyway.
