Hi. I missed renewing my domain that was associated with my wordpress.com site. How do I get it back?

I just read in this post https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/retrieve-domain-3?replies=4#post-2899926 that you can restore the domain for me. It is in its redemption period, now at wildwestdomains.com.

How do I arrange to pay wordpress to get it back? Will it cost $80 or something else?

BTW, the domain name is oriongateway.org.

Hi Eric ,
Yes your Domain is in Redemption mode ,
You can still renew your domain through us, but it is now a more expensive and complicated process to do so. Our registrar charges an $80 late renewal fee in addition to the $26 we charge to renew the domain. The good news is that this is still a chance of reclaiming the domain through this option.
Your other option is to wait until the redemption period is over so that the domain becomes available for registration again. Domains are usually in redemption for approximately 80 days, but with this option, you run  the risk of someone else jumping in front of you to purchase the domain before you get the chance.
Please let me know if you want to proceed with paying the late renewal fee in the attempt to reclaim the domain name. This option is also time sensitive because the domain can be auctioned off to an expired domain bidder.
I would suggest enabling the auto-renew option so that you will not have to worry about losing control over your domain in the future.

As the domain is now in the redemption period, there will be an $80 late renewal fee in addition to the regular domain costs. I can help you sort this out once you are logged in as the domain owner.

Thanks for confirming.

oriongateway.org expired on 2017-01-13 and is currently in the redemption period:

Domain Expiration

The good news is that you can still try to recover your domain as it has not yet been deleted, purchased by someone else at auction or sold on back-order. I’ve sent a payment request to the email address on your account — which includes the $80 late renewal fee and the $18 domain cost.

Once that has been paid, we can start the process of trying to get your domain back. Should the recovery fail after you’ve paid the redemption fee, that fee is refunded in full.
