Here’s what happened. We have had a site for a long time on a different WordPress account. Then a year ago I tried to change the email address to doulaaileen but she forgot to go in and confirm. So it’s just been hanging out in no man’s land for a very long time. Until it was up for renewal…. but unfortunately the email address I used to create that site is no longer accessible. It’s basically a huge mess BUT we would very much like to get our website back and connect it to the new WordPress account we just set up for Aileen. My name is Anne Ferguson and my WordPress account was called MinnesotaPlacenta. Could someone from WordPress please reply? If the site is in redemption we would very much like to get it back. However I’ve had a website I let expire get stolen from me before so now I’m scared to post the URL here. Please help!!!

Hi there, https://minnesotaplacenta.wordpress.com/ still exists and the account that owns it is still active.
We can assist with this, but we will need to receive the request from the WordPress.com account which owns the site and the domain.
Once the domain is recovered, the owner can transfer both the site and it to your account.

We are trying to get back minnesotaplacenta.com not the wordpress extension one. I am the original owner but have already changed the email over to doulaaileen so I’m not sure how to make the official request. Can you help? Does that make sense?

Thank you for replying from this account, From what I can see you last renewed minnesotaplacenta.com on 07-16-2021, which you can confirm here: https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/billing/
However I do not see a renewal in 2022, and can confirm that minnesotaplacenta.com has expired due as there was no payment by the renewal date. The good news is that we may be able to recover your domain, but there will be a late renewal fee to do so.
Please check your inbox for the invoice we just sent, which will include a link to pay for the renewal of $18 as well as the late redemption fee.
After you make payment please return here to let us know so we can take the next step of recovering the domain.

Was the email sent to doulaaileen (the new owner of this website) or (email visible only to moderators and staff)? If the latter, I will not be able to access it because that email address is long gone. Is there another way for me to verify that i was the original owner of the MinnesotaPlacenta website so we can get the website back, get the fees paid, and then permanently move it over to doulaaileen and have her set up recurring payment for the future? Sorry this is so confusing and messy!

The payment form was sent to the email associated with your WordPress.com account (@minnesotaplacenta). If you don’t have access to that email, please update it to a different one by going to your Account Settings page (https://wordpress.com/me/account). Once you’ve updated the email address, let us know, and we’ll resend the payment form.

Yes I got the invoice and paid it! That receipt is showing up in my account however the domain is still showing at minnesotaplacenta.wordpress.com instead of the one without WordPress. Do I need to give it more time maybe? I still need to map it over to Weebly where we created the newest version of the site and I know how to do that once the correct address is showing up as my primary domain. Is there something else I need to do right now or just wait?
