Missing
-
So, I occasionally check on my blog every so often, and I noticed today that it was missing. I was going to send the short story on it to one of my freinds, but I cannot, since it seems to have disappeared and the domain was bought out by namecheap? Is there I way I can get access to my blog posts to save them on my computer at the very least? If not recover my old website?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It looks like your domain,
www.giantsdrink.com, has expired and someone else has bought it. This is a common occurrence. The important thing to know is that your domain (the website address) and your hosting (where your blog’s files and posts are stored) are two separate things.Since your domain is now pointing to a Namecheap parking page, it means you can no longer use that address to reach your hosting. However, your blog’s content might still be safe on your hosting provider’s servers, you just can’t access it with the old address.

The first thing you should do now is contact your hosting company. This is a very important step because they are the ones who stored your WordPress website files and database. You need to find out which company you used for hosting — it could be WordPress.com, Bluehost, SiteGround, or another provider. Once you know who your host is, reach out to their customer support team right away.
When you contact them, explain that your domain name has expired, but you still need access to your WordPress hosting account to recover your website content. Most hosting providers understand this situation and can help. They may give you a temporary link or URL that lets you log in to your WordPress dashboard even without the domain. From there, you’ll be able to back up your files and make sure your site content is safe.

Hi @giantsdrinkblog,
This is correct! Your website could be stored with your host, even if your domain has expired. It appears that your site was a self-hosted WordPress site, meaning that while the site may have been built on WordPress technology, separate from WordPress.com hosting, we specifically support sites built with WordPress technology hosted on WordPress.com. You can read more about this here: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/.
If you can locate the host, I would suggest contacting them to see if they’re able to locate your site content.
Please let us know if you have any questions on this!

I thought my host was wordpress…. How do I find that out. And if it IS wordpress, what’s the next step?

The next step is to contact Namecheap for assistance with both domain and website file recovery.
This will help them confirm whether your site was built with WordPress or not. Additionally, I recommend checking internet archives like the Wayback Machine at https://web.archive.org/ to see if an older version of your site is available.
