Missing admin bar

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,
There is no grey or blue admin bar at the top of my website.
There used to be a link to admin on the actual page below meta link but now it’s vanished.
    Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Howdy uktochina!
Just make sure you are logged into WordPress.com, if not just go to wordpress.com and login again.
To be able to access your Admin Dashboard, one’s you are logged in, on the top left side you would see the option MySites, which would take you to the new Dashboard Calypso.
To be able to access the old Dashboard just add /wp-admin to your URL, like for your URL uktochina.wordpress.com/wp-admin
and login to access your Dashboard WP-Admin old one.
Hope this helps, let me know if you still face issues.

    Hello pavanraheja
Thank you for your advice. I can’t see Calypso but I added /wp-admin to my URL and it worked.
Will I have to do this every time?

    Hi Again!
Just try to clear your Browsers using these instructions, clear your cache and cookies,
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
Try to log in to WordPress.com again and see if you are still facing the problem, and not able to access the Calypso Dashboard.
Let me know if you still facing issues to access it.

I’ve tried what you suggested but I still can’t see Calypso. I still don’t understand why I could see the admin link the other day but I can’t see it today.
My internet connection keeps breaking as well so it might be better if I try again tomorrow.
Thank you for your help and I’ll let you know what happens.

    Hi again!
Yes please try with a stable internet connection. Also, possibly if you still face an issue, just log into WordPress.com and send the Screen shot , we can take a closer look.
Would be happy to assist you further..!

    Hi again,
I don’t see any attachment in your above reply? Did you try to send out the attachment? Also, there is another way to access the admin, use the link: uktochina.wordpress.com/wp-admin
It is the old Wp-admin, but best would be to use the Calypso admin, do let me know how it goes.
    Thanks!

    Hi again,
Did you try to send a Screenshot again?
You could just upload the image to the Media Library in WordPres.com too, and share the link here.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
As the image is within your account, I am not able to view it, you would have to set up in Public on a Page or a Post, or other option would be just to give it one more try to Make A Screenshot, in that you just have to copy me the URL link of the image from the browser.
I understand this is getting too tedious, just give it one more try.
Or you could just send me an email from here:

    Thanks!

  • Hi there,

    If I may step in…

The “Calypso” that @pavanraheja refers to is the internal name for the My Sites dashboard you’ll see if you click on My Sites at the top of the WordPress.com home page or here in the forums.

Can you please confirm if My Sites correctly loads for you?

You’ve also confirmed that you’re albe to load WP-Admin.

So, the only reason you won’t be seeing the admin bar on your site’s front end or when visiting other sites, is because something in your browser is preventing us from traking your login between different sites.

Please clear your browser’s cache and cookies, and also make sure you have third party cookies enabled in your browser. If you have any privacy add-ons in your browser like Privacy Badger, please try disabling those as well.

Then log back into your account and view your site. Let me know if you’re still unable to see the admin bar.

However, on the screen shot you uploaded I can see the admin bar on your site as it’s supposed to be, so maybe you’re referring to something else.

    @pavanraheja

Please don’t ask users to contact you privately for support, or send screen shots to you privately. Instead, explain to the user how to get to the actual image file URL in their media library, explain how to share the file via a third party service like Cloudup or Dropbox, or tag the thread for staff so we can look.

@kokkieh: Noted, I did try and explain, as it was getting a bit hard to get the file, I requested possible. Noted all your points in all the updates. Hope you see the improvements. Thanks!

@uktochina: As @kokkieh mentioned too, clearing cookies and cache. The link is there in the above guidelines to help you further.
Hope you get this sorted soon.
