Missing Buttons in post window

This started around 2 weeks ago. The buttons above the post box that allow creating a link, bolding text, using the <–More–> feature have disappeared.

This only applies in the visual tab, I still have them in the code tab.

I run win xp pro, FF 2.0.0.3 and no add-ons that could be altering this (I’ve checked) The buttons are there when I check in ‘IE’

Sometimes the visual editor switches itself off, so go to your Profile and check to make sure it’s still ticked. Strange that you see them in IE but not FF; generally WordPress works better with FF than IE.

Sorry, thankyou for the reply btw but I’ve checked the option you mentioned and it is ticked and the problem still exists. I currently have 3 buttons in that view. The <more> button, the spell check button and the help button. Other than that nothing.

I’d hang on till Support is back on Monday morning and then send a feedback. I haven’t heard of anything like that; even if your virus software were somehow blocking the icons, it would block all of them presumably.

Try clearing FF’s file cache and forcing a reload of the page. CTRL-F5 on the PC.

dmike thanks for the tip unfortunately I struck out

    I’ll send that support email

Any other suggestions are of course welcome

Strange stuff nitecabbie….I would have thought that forcing firefox to reset would have this sorted for you. It is almost 100% a cache problem or the ‘visual editor button’ that is screwing it up for you. No chance of duplicating the fix and see if that helps? ;) Other than that, the support avenue would be best!

Make it’s McAfee doing yet another false positive?

Nope it was my fault and thankyou to everyone who tried to help.

I removed Firefox completely before doing the install of 2.0.0.3 and instead of using Adblock I installed the ad blocking code in the user content file and it seems some part of that matched the buttons on the wordpress post page.

    Thanks again to everyone.
