    Hello people,
I got one problem, I’v setted the default category as “Geral” and the main category of these category is itself, now it does not show up in the Category administration, but it exists. If I try to add again the category It just does not work, if I press the buttom “Add category” I recive and message above the form:
“Something strange happened. Try refreshing the page.”
And if I press enter to add, in the top dialog say that category does not added.

The strange thing is it exists. http://wagnervaz.wordpress.com/tag/geral

But I cant see it even in Dashboard and not in the page.

Someone know how to fix this? =

    Thanks

    All the best

    Try refreshing the page

Have you done this? Try doing a Ctrl-F5 reload of the categories page.

Do you have your one post assigned to that category? That might be why it’s not showing up on your blog.

Yes, I reloaded the page various times, and tried enter in the Category admin again various times.

Yes, my post is signed with that category.

    Try to reproduce my error:
Create a new category, Edit these category and set itself as parent category.

I’m starting to think it is a bug, hope not.

    Thanks

    SOLVED!!! AT LAST!!!

    1. You need know the ID of category that stucked. in my case is 463, just entered with other WP, created the category and it shows the id ;)
    2. You are gone to edit it via Query String, just like the others categories, so you will put the url in your browser (after you log in with your account):

    https://yourblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/categories.php?action=edit&cat_ID=categoryID

It is just an example, where you substitute “yourblog” with your blog and “categoryID” you replace with the stucked category ID.
For me the URL done these:

    https://wagnervaz.wordpress.com/wp-admin/categories.php?action=edit&cat_ID=463

So it will open the edit settings for these category, now set it up correctly and update, now you can see the category in Category Admin =).

Hope it help some other person.

    All the best

OMG you rock. I was having the same problem and it was driving me batty! Your solution worked. FYI I had already put a link under that category, and even though the category was not showing on my category list, the link was under my “Blogroll” list and by hovering my mouse over the category link to that post, I found the ID for it. Then plugged it into the query string you provided and it worked like a charm.

    Muy thanks!
