Missing Comments
-
Dear WordPress Support,
I have made comments on http://nrhatch.wordpress.com/2014/05/15/philomena/ and on http://touch2touch.wordpress.com/2014/05/16/welcome-dandelions-welcome-spring/ but these have not appeared – it looks like Akismet is treating me as spam again :-( Please can you help…
Best wishes,
Martin

Hello Martin.
Because of the way these users have their comments set up, you are indeed getting caught in their spam filters. You’ll need to contact the site owners directly. if they choose, they can mark your comment “Not Spam” and make certain that you are not a) blacklisted on their site or b) breaking any of the rules they have set up for commenters. It’s possible you accidentally triggered their filter.
Best of luck with this. Thank you!

That is a lot of people whose posts I have been successfully commenting on up until now who must have suddenly decided to change their settings! Or did it happen centrally without their knowledge? A similar occurance happened last year affect UK users and was fixed centrally.
I’m afraid that your ‘Best of Luck response shows a total lack of customer awareness :-(

Dear WordPress Support,
I have taken the only possible step to advise my regular contacts about this issue as I don’t have access to their emails and would feel that I was intruding upon them were I to follow your advice. That is to blog that my comments are being blocked and ask them to check their spam queues.
Perhaps you would be kind enough to explain to me with details why my comments are suddenly triggering the spam filters – they were fine until Thursday and I certainly haven’t altered my sttyle of comment since then!

Hi Martin,
It’s not our policy to change comments for readers whether for spam or deletion. Regardless of why you’ve gotten stuck in their filter, being “un-marked” as spam would have to be a conversation between you and and the site owner.
You mentioned a “similar occurance happened last year affect UK users,” and this could be the current issue as well. Please take a look a this:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/connection-issues-with-talktalk-and-possibly-other-british-isps?replies=1Make certain to look at the linked thread as well. I’m wondering if your new spam issue is due to the ISP of the bloggers whose sites you’re visiting. Please leave your comment in the thread, if you think this is the case.
While I cannot provide an immediate solution, we are looking into the issue and will post status updates as we learn more. Thank you.

Thanks for the follow-up response. I certainly wouldn’t expect you to change comments! Some of my regulars are now finding my comments in their Spam areas and acknowledging them.
Thank your for looking into the issue – I will take a look at the link you have provided. I’m usually very happy with wordpress and had been recommending it to a friend the day before this issue occurred!
Best wishes,
Martin
