missing content

I can see links to my pages in WordPress but can’t get to the pages and blog posts from within WordPress or direct. Is there anyone that can help me republish my missing content? I use Go Daddy for hosting my WordPress site and blog.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

You posted this in the forums for the hosting provider, WordPress.com. We only have control over your site at http://skabookcom.wordpress.com/, that’s hosted on our servers.

You have two other sites in your account that’s connected via the Jetpack plugin, but those sites use the open source WordPress software made on WordPress.org, and is hosted somewhere else, GoDaddy in this case.

I assume you’re specifically talking of https://skabook.com/, correct? As I see the other one, old.skabook.com/foundationska/, doesn’t load at all (we can remove that Jetpack connection so it’s no longer listed in your account, if you want).

You’re not able to get into https://skabook.com/ because the Jetpack connection that links it here, is currently broken:

    Debug

Jetpack uses a service called XMLRPC to communicate with your site, but access to that service on your site is being blocked, as you can see here:

    https://skabook.com/xmlrpc.php

That’s controlled on your host’s end, so you’ll need to ask them to enable that on your server. Then Jetpack will be able to communicate with your site again, and you’ll be able to access your posts and pages from your WordPress.com dashboard.

If needed, you can also point GoDaddy support to this support page on the Jetpack website for more information:

Let us know if you have any questions about this.

Hi Thank you – I believe the issue is with http://skabookcom.wordpress.com/, that’s hosted on WordPress. The pages were all developed here in WordPress using a template. Also I did just contact Go Daddy and confirmed XMLRPC is actively working. Here is an example of a blog post I am trying to get back created on WordPress http://skabook.com/sean-connery-007/ Also here is a sample of a page created on WordPress http://skabook.com/rude-girls-women-in-2tone-and-one-step-beyond/. Go Daddy suggested the issue is with JetPack plugin but didn’t direct me to which plugin was the issue.

  • Hi @haugustyn,

Just to clarify, you can edit Jetpack-connected WordPress.org sites on WordPress.com. Taking a closer look at your skabook.com site, it doesn’t appear to have been created using WordPress. Rather, it’s static HTML.

If the issue is indeed with skabook.com in particular, please keep in mind that this site is hosted with GoDaddy, and is not the same as your free skabookcom.wordpress.com site on WordPress.com.

Both links that you shared give me a File not found (404 error). Did you change your domain’s DNS records and are pointing to a different site now? Perhaps you have more than one site (e.g. old.skabook.com/foundationska/) with GoDaddy or another host? I recommend reaching out to GoDaddy for confirmation on this.

I hope that points you in the right direction.

Thank you, yes I agree that I have made changes over the years, but the links I provided are visible links within WordPress where they were originally developed and stored till Dec 22, 2021. Now the links no longer work. I can’t give you a screen shot but this is what my WordPress ‘Pages’ looks like but all the page links no longer exist.

  • The pages may be visible within WordPress’s Dashboard, but http://skabook.com is no longer a WordPress site, so WordPress does not control it.

If you want to keep that site as a static non-WordPress site, you’ll need to re-create the pages on the new site.
