Missing Customizations such as Header Image, Background, Menus

… taking away something that has been paid for. WP tries really hard to disappoint its customers.

Hi, can no longer manage the background and colour for fcafa.wordpress.com.
Corrected initially after the WP u/date of 27 July, but now can no longer change – just get a grey window when I go change the background.

@mrjohn84 — I see you chatted with Chad about that problem with your site’s fonts. That was unrelated to this issue, and your site’s fonts are now fixed. If you have any other questions and concerns, please feel free to reply to that followup email from Chad. :)
@sjwsentinel — If you have any concerns about how the Premium plan or other upgrades work, you’re welcome to contact us and we can discuss that more in depth.
@fcafa — If you’re having trouble with the customizer itself not working properly, please start a new forum thread about that so we can troubleshoot that for you separately. That way we can sort out with you exactly what’s going wrong and get that working for you again. Thanks!

Hi there
I’ve got a problem with my font customization.
I renewed this option (my credit card was about to expire) a week ago but the ugly wordpress default font is back
I had chosen FF META and I actually checked if it was activated in my settings: well… it is!I tried different things:
deleted cookies and browsing history
cleared memory cache
changed browser and computer to check if it was a browser/device problem.
Changed the font to normal, then put the FF META back, saved the changes.Nothings seems to work
here’s my website: http://lesmiscellanees.infoSorry for my English, I’m French. But the French forum redirected me here because they were of no help

OK. My site http://www.ActressJordanRice.com was affected by the changes that were made a few days ago. I contacted support and the issue with my Resume page was resolved – the Resume page is parent page for several other pages none of which were showing on the menu. Today I go into the site and the same problem is back. This is so frustrating. Please help!

Not sure why but the “main” title on my home page has gotten much smaller. What would have caused this and what can I do to fix it.

Hi,
My menu is all scrambled again just like it was on Monday. Please help! Judging for Ireland Blog Awards starts today :(
Thanks,
BillieThe blog I need help with is irelandms.com.

Hi,
Half of menu, anything from My Journey – Fatigue – Optic Neuritis – Optimism etc downwards, disappeared again last night. When I saved the menu, it was literally halved, and I couldn’t retrieve those posts and pages that were missing. Had to manually add all pages and posts, just like I had to do after Monday’s outage.
Is there a way so I can avoid this happening again? It took hours to get it back to normal. The menu settings are filled in correctly (Menu Name: My Portfolio) and the Menu Location also set to Main Menu: My Portfolio.
The name of my blog is irelandms.com / willeke73.wordpress.com
Thanks,
Willeke (Billie) -
@melinahuet — Sorry for the trouble with your site’s fonts. I just checked the site and I see your FF Meta fonts everywhere on the site. Are you still having trouble with that?
@actressjordanrice — Please trying opening your site’s Customizer, going to the “Navigation” section there, and re-selecting your site’s custom menu there. If that doesn’t work for you, please let me know!
@disc440 — You can control your site’s fonts (including the font size) in the Customizer, in the “Fonts” section there. Right now, your site title is using the Chunk font, set to the normal (default) font size. If you have any more trouble with that, please contact us or start a new forum thread about that so we can take a closer look for you.
@billie73 — Your theme has several menu locations, including a Main Menu and a Secondary Menu. Did you have a secondary menu set before? Right now, I see a custom menu set as your Main Menu and no custom menu set for the secondary menu. You can see those in the “Navigation” section in your site’s Customizer.

Good morning – I’ve tried to exit the custom area for background color in accordance with your suggestion in an effort to change my background color but there is not an exit option available to do that. Can you please help? Thank you.
-
@javonf — If you don’t see a message with a link to exit the preview, you may not be previewing the Custom Design features in your site’s customizer. Which site are you trying to change the background color for, and what color are you trying to switch it to? If you can give me a link to the site in question, I can take a closer look at it for you. :)

Hi Rachel,
Thanks for your reply!
I know where and how to create a menu, and I always use a custom menu as my main one, and I use the social menu also in Yumblog. Never used a secondary menu.
The first time the main custom menu was literally halved was after last Monday’s outage, and the second time after I had been adding new posts/pages to the main custom menu on Friday. All pages and posts coming after My Journey (Fatigue – Optic Neuritis – Optimism etc) had to be added one by one.
In the four years that I have been with WordPress, I never had this issue before. I heavily rely on a large menu because of the topic of my blog (health & Ireland), so I can’t have the main custom menu disappearing like this every so many days.
I deleted my cache, history and cookies, and logged in and out of WP to find out if it would help, but the menu remained halved, and it took hours adding the rest of my posts again.
It is now back in its restored, normal customized form, but I wanted to know if there is a way to avoid my main custom menu from being halved again?
The menu settings are filled in correctly (Menu Name: My Portfolio) and the Menu Location also set to Main Menu: My Portfolio.
Thanks,
Willeke -
@billie73 — The issue last Monday was related to your site switching back to its default menu, deactivating your custom menu. Once that was fixed, the issue from last Monday would not have affected your site again. It sounds like something went wrong when you were adjusting your custom menu on Friday. Since you’ve fixed the custom menu now, it’s hard to say exactly what went wrong. If that issue reappears, please contact us directly or start a new forum thread about that (and, if possible, leave the custom menu as it appears with the problem) and we can investigate that further.

Hej Rachel,
I’ve read through this and the previous thread but I can’t find a hint on what to do if the menue is not in the same place as it used to be? I’m using Hemingway on alexanderpfeiffer.de and the menue used to be centered (between left and right, that is) at the top. It’s still at the top as it used to be but rather to the left and not centered as it should. Do you have any advice? And is it possible that the page content in general is moved more to the left now or am I imagining that?
Also, I am experiencing trouble with doing a backup of the site. Could that in any way be related or is it a whole other problem?
Thanks so much,
Mara -
Thank you. http://newenglandgardenandthread.com I had changed the header with no problem at all. Then I went to the background and was just going to tone down the green a little and as I went to click on it, the entire side of the screen just scrolls off to the left like it was collapsing for lack of a better word. I’ve done this a number times over the years to just change the color to better match the header photo and have never had a problem before. If you can assist or give me advice, I would greatly appreciate it.
-
@wortpiratin — The site at http://www.alexanderpfeiffer.de/ is self-hosted (not hosted at WordPress.com) so any issues you’re seeing there aren’t related to changes made here at WordPress.com. If you have questions about the Hemingway theme you’re using there, you can get in touch with the theme author directly for more help with that, either through his website or in the WordPress.org Hemingway theme forum:
https://wordpress.org/support/theme/hemingway
@javonf — I checked your site at https://newenglandgardenandthread.wordpress.com/ and your customizer is working ok for me there. When you click on “Colors & Backgrounds” there, a new panel will slide open with the background options. You can click on the background color there to change it.
If you don’t see those background options there, you may need to refresh your browser or clear your browser’s cache. If that still doesn’t work for you, please let me know.

Thanks anyway, Rachel. Since I use wordpress and what happened with the site was related to the bug y’all are describing AND happened at the exact same time I thought, it was related…

Good morning,
First off, thank you very much for your help.
So, the first time I went to ‘color & background’ I could see the current green and then it collapsed. I went out and went back in and there was not even the green just a white column. So, I did as you suggested by clicking on the link and resetting Safari. Nothing.
I am using a MacBook Pro with Safari but have been using it since I started on WordPress so I’m not sure that is the problem. It’s probably me, but I don’t for the life of me know what I am doing wrong.
Judy

@javonf — Thanks for those details, Judy. It sounds like something is going a bit wrong in your Safari browser. Can you make a screenshot of what you see in your customizer there? That will help me understand what exactly is going wrong.
You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service like Snaggy to upload and share it.
