Missing Functions

I am trying to make a major post with text and photo blocks. I am trying various formats, which requires deleting what doesn’t work. But the horizontal toolbar at the top of my work area has disappeared along with the delete option. It was there when I started work about an hour ago but now it’s gone. In addition, when I publish my post ‘so far’ to see what it looks like, there should be an option at the bottom of the page to Customize or Edit. It is not there anymore. I made three screenshots to show what I mean but I see no option to attach them to this message.

The post I am having problems with is at https://wordpress.com/post/naturallyurbanpicshobbycorner.wordpress.com/8010. Strangely, at the top of the tab it says “Edit Post” even though I published it.

That link takes you to the Edit page. I closed WordPress, then opened the blog again and clicked on the title of the post in the Index. Now I get a legitimate link: https://naturallyurbanpicshobbycorner.wordpress.com/2023/05/28/fledgling-birds/. That should take you to the post I am having problems with. They are significant. I hope you can fix them.

From what I see on your last screenshot is you didn’t select the Columns Block. To get an oveview of the blocks you used, click in the top bar on the 3 lines and you’ll get a document overview. You’ll be able to select the desired block.

Thank you! That helps! How the page works changed halfway through my project but that works. All except that I can’t find the icon to insert a caption on photos but I can live without that, I suppose.

Thanks for that link. Now I know what to call it: I had been missing the visual editor, now I found it again. That solves some of my problems but not all. Will someone help me solve this problem? I published my post, visit page, then want to edit but there is no Edit option to return to page.
