Missing images from my library

I have written blogs of our walks since 2012-ish, and have recently reviewed some older walks, only to find that my media library is now missing the images from these early blogs. The media library is therefore incomplete, and my early blogs have the text but not the images.
Where have they gone please, and how can I retrieve them ? For example, walk no. 94 onwards contains images, but walk no. 93 ad earlier does not.

I recently called for staff attention to this topic and they should be responding here soon.
In the mean time, I’ll take the liberty of offering my two cents on the issue. A couple of days ago I came across your request here, and I immediately confirmed that walk 94 (posted on 12/31/2018) images were displaying, while images included within walk 93 (11/22/2018) were missing. Investigating further, I found that all images were missing from walks 87-92, taking us back to April 2018, and that images were also missing from the walk #1, dated 3/18/2013. Given this information, it would not be a wild conjecture that images might be missing from all walks preceding walk 94.
If all of your posts reflect such walks, then I would suggest that you check your media library to see if all or most of the existent images were loaded to the library after the publishing of walk 93. The absence of images loaded before roughly 11/22/2018 would indicate that the media library was emptied around that time. If there are some earlier images in the library, but all of the images from walks on or before that date are missing, this would indicate that those missing images were selectively deleted, perhaps without knowing the impact of that action.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that using archive.org’s Wayback Machine, I found “captures” or screenshots, each dated 10 August 2020, for walks 92 and 93. These screenshots demonstrate that the images were missing from those posts over five years ago. Here are the two captures: walk 92 capture, walk 93 capture.

I apologize for the delay in our response.
I’ve checked your site logs, and it appears that you deleted multiple image files seven years ago, including the images attached to your 93. St. Oswald’s Way, the final leg – 30th August 2017 blog post.
Deleted images cannot be recovered and are permanently deleted. You may refer to our guide here: https://wordpress.com/support/delete-media-files/
